Creative “safety first” drive through delivery saves annual event
eBizDocs, a local scanning service bureau and digital transformation expert, is fulfilling its commitment to support the Arc of Rensselaer County’s staff by preparing 500 meals featuring delicious slow smoked pulled pork, mac and cheese, barbecue chicken, and baked beans.
An assembly line formed outside of the Rensselaer County Arc offices in Troy, as hundreds of BBQ meals were prepared for the Direct Support Professionals (DSP). Throughout this health crisis, these front-line workers are diligently helping clients with disabilities every day. eBizDocs employs many individuals with disabilities who benefit from Arc services.
The Arc of Rensselaer County is a non-profit agency supporting individuals with disabilities and their families throughout Rensselaer County since 1950. The agency is dedicated to building the capacity, and realizing the full citizenship, of those with developmental & intellectual disabilities by providing invaluable resources and support. The Arc currently serves nearly 800 individuals and their families and is one of the largest employers in Rensselaer County with more than 500 individuals serving in a variety of positions.
Howard Gross, eBizDocs founder and CEO, is also a chef with a passion for perfecting BBQ. His BBQ (under the Q-Biz brand) is becoming well known across the northeast and is a competition favorite. This year the Coronavirus presented eBizDocs a challenge. Social distancing and group gathering restrictions prohibited the picnic format, enjoyed in years past. “This is eBizDocs’ third year of providing BBQ meals to The Arc Direct Support Professionals and we had to get a little creative to make it happen,” said Howard Gross, CEO, eBizDocs. “Employing safety first guidelines, we prepared the meals and the drive through worked flawlessly to deliver the feast.” By the end of the day, everyone enjoyed a delightful meal and remained safe. Genuine appreciation comes in all forms and eBizDocs found a way to say – Thank you for all you do – despite a worldwide pandemic.
