ALBANY, N.Y., Sept. 28, 2020 – eBizDocs today announced its participation in National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), an annual awareness campaign that takes place each October. The purpose of NDEAM is to educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. This year’s theme is “Increasing Access and Opportunity.”

eBizDocs is no stranger to supporting the disabled community. Since its inception over 20 years ago, eBizDocs’ vision is offering employees an opportunity to show what they can do. And, it is working! The New York State Industries for the Disabled, Inc. (NYSID) recognized eBizDocs as its Corporate Partner of the Year, citing its inclusive business culture that pairs workers, whether with hearing impairments, physical and mental health challenges, with the right job. Best Buddies, the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, named eBizDocs founder, Howard Gross, “Champion of the Year.” eBizDocs also works closely with the Autism Society , Veterans Association, and the Arc of Rensselaer County so that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities will have access to the services, assistance, and opportunities they need for personal growth and development, and participation in the community.

eBizDocs has several long-term partnerships with local business and organizations. “A significant component of inclusion is meaningful employment, where a person is contributing to the economy and, more importantly, a business with a mission. The Arc of Rensselaer is lucky to have a positive work partnership with eBizDocs and Howard Gross,” said Don Mullin, CEO The Arc of Rensselaer County. “I applaud their commitment, care, and connections for individuals who happen to have a disability.”

Like many other businesses, eBizDocs felt the impact of COVID-19. Forced to close its doors in March, the company is slowly reemerging and implemented all governmental guidelines/safety and other precautions to help protect its employees before returning to work. “eBizDocs recognizes the value of a diverse employee base. They embrace a neurodiverse workforce and provide opportunities for many individuals with autism and other disabilities,” said Janine Kruiswijk, Executive Director, Autism Society of the Greater Capital Region. “The Autism Society of the Greater Capital Region proudly recognized eBizDocs with its Community Leadership Award.”

The history of NDEAM traces back to 1945. This is also commemorative year and marks 30 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and 75 years of NDEAM. “Ensuring that America’s workplaces continue to include and accommodate people with disabilities will be an important part of our economic rebound,” said Eugene Scalia, U.S. Secretary of Labor.

Reflecting this year’s theme, throughout the month, eBizDocs will be engaging in a variety of activities to educate its team members on disability employment issues and its commitment to an inclusive work culture. These efforts include displaying awareness posters in the workplace and working closely with various organizations assisting individuals seeking employment. “I never saw a place like eBizDocs. There is opportunity for everyone. Disabled and non-disabled working together, it is very GOOD,” said Maryam Haidari, eBizDocs.

“We are proud to be a part of this year’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month,” said Howard Gross, eBizDocs, President and CEO. “We want to spread the important message that we value all perspectives, including those of individuals with disabilities.”
