A Spotlight Twist

We are doing something special with this month’s spotlight. This is our first spotlight to shine on an employee as they leave eBizDocs. Growth is a winding path and sometimes you need to take detours before you can reach your goals. eBizDocs enjoys great satisfaction knowing it played an important role in helping an employee prepare for a new and stimulating career. Paul Bassinson joined eBizDocs in Aril 2016 for a Data Entry position. His time with eBizDocs illustrates how the company’s core values of Integrity, Agility, and Support provide an environment where everyone has the opportunity to be the best they can be. Today, Paul is keeping his stress levels in check and advancing his career. Read on to discover Paul’s growth over the past 5 years and the role eBizDocs played throughout his journey.

Prior to eBizDocs

Paul Bassinson joined eBizDocs after years of struggling in both the college and job environments. According to Paul, “Being at work has always been a source of stress for me, and before my diagnosis of Asperger’s in 2011, I really beat myself up about it. I was embarrassed that I found college and the work environment so challenging. I criticized myself for not being able to stick at something, for not digging in and working myself upwards through promotions, and to see the rewards of my efforts being recognized and financially compensated.”

The actual work was never the source of stress. Paul undertook many jobs which did not apply his skills and abilities in any meaningful way. Most often, although he started a new position with the hope and expectation this job would be OK, eventually he would get that feeling he wasn’t fitting in, or this company environment wasn’t for him. And then it was a matter of seeing just how long he could tolerate these feelings before having to leave the position. That all changed in 2016 when a job coach told Paul about eBizDocs. Paul was advised eBizDocs was a place where he could build a strong resume and the employer would be accommodating to meet his physical and mental needs on the job.

The eBizDocs Experience

“One of my favorite things about eBizDocs is how the needs of the people, with various disabilities, are not questioned. Instead, they are adapted to work within its business model. This was not the case in any of my other circumstances. eBizDocs is a WONDERFUL place to work with super nice co-workers and supervisors. Personally, this is the first time I ever experienced this level of understanding and adaptation from an employer.”
Paul was well qualified for the Data Entry position and even through a work slowdown and the pandemic shutdown disrupted his employment, eBizDocs always contacted him to come back to work. This demonstration of being valued did wonders for his self-esteem and confidence. Paul approaches all the different data entry projects at eBizDocs with “gusto” and gladly gives his all to getting the job done.

“When I arrive for work, I punch in and get right to it… I think one of my most interesting undertakings is the New York State Department of Health’s birth and death certificates project. A FUN assignment, with so much history flying under my fingertips. I love documenting past records, and I love the idea eBizDocs relied on my skills. It’s highly rewarding and important for me to be professionally accountable and be employed!”

Prior to eBizDocs, Paul’s career moved him through a series of jobs across the private, public, charitable, and educational work environments. All in the hope of finding somewhere he could just fit in and work without the accompanying stress. Paul left each job on good terms with every employer seemingly unaware of the personal stress he was under. “I really am that good at disguising my stress. Even after my diagnosis in 2011, it still took me another two years to fully understand I was not capable of working full time both physically and mentally.”
Paul is leaving eBizDocs for a new opportunity at a local library. Paul wrote a personal note on his resignation letter, he said: “I have not met a more accommodating team. Thank you for all your help and support.”

Support
