Brian Ha
Data Entry

Brian is a typical 24-year-old. He has a college degree in computer science and physics and ready to seek a fulfilling career in his field. Finding the ideal workplace seemed elusive. He needed a workplace that could help him grow by learning more about himself and becoming a productive member of society. Brian had little work experience but was ready to begin working with data and people.

Brian discovered Gig Works, a groundbreaking employment initiative whose mission is matching adults on the autism spectrum with jobs that suit their abilities. Prior to eBizDocs, Brian’s only work experience was as an internship assisting maintenance staff at a local middle school. His involvement with Gig Works brought the opportunity of finding a work environment that would welcome him as a full-time qualified employee. Brian’s goals were working with computers, earning a living, and being productive. Brian and his father attended the eBizDocs open house because he felt eBizDocs might be a good place to launch his career. At the open house, Brian learned about all the possible job openings and knew Data Entry was a good fit. In fact, when Brian took the typing test, he delivered 75 word per minute with 100 percent accuracy. This greatly exceeded eBizDocs requirements of 45-50 word per minute with 97% accuracy.

Brian’s autism makes interviewing a challenge. Like many with autism, Brian might answer questions slowly, answer with one or two words, share a blunt observation or miss social cues. Traditional open ended interview questions, such as asking for strengths and weaknesses, could leave him feeling overwhelmed. eBizDocs is very familiar with special needs and Brian quickly saw how it offers an exceptional work culture for his needs. Gig Works and eBizDocs are collaborating partners and equally motivated towards finding good jobs for qualified workers. It was this partnership that established the open house opportunity. Brian was interested from the get-go and felt eBizDocs was the ideal place for him to start his career.

Brian started his Data Entry position working on a NYS Department of Health project in early January 2020. He was just getting into the swing of learning his new job when the pandemic forced a temporary furlough. Fortunately, the furlough was short and Brian quickly returned to work. Brian found his routine, enjoys going to work, and is proud of his almost perfect attendance. Brian’s routine includes arriving to work a bit early and relaxing in the breakroom till it is time to punch in.

When asked what the best thing about your job is, Brian relates: “I enjoy interacting with people who are willing to help me, understand me, and help me do my job better. eBizDocs offers a very flexible and supportive work environment where I am able to learn new things. People help each other, we are a team, and we have special luncheons to celebrate our accomplishments. I am learning a lot since joining eBizDocs. I mastered several assignments and received training related to working in the office environment. I am growing in all areas of my life and appreciate the opportunity eBizDocs gives me.” At the open house, Howard Gross (President and CEO) talked about people getting in the zone when working. For Brian, this means humming a tune or thinking about fun memories while getting his job done. He enjoys the challenge of learning new things and brings a high level of motivation to new projects. Brian is also grateful to Chris Ginart (Director of Operations) and Shalom (Team Lead) for teaching him and providing feedback on how to do the best job possible.
Brian went on to share, “I recommend eBizDocs for people who are starting with no work experience (like me) and are willing to work hard. They will be rewarded with great personal satisfaction and a strong list of accomplishments. eBizDocs is a place that supports and encourages workers to do their best, and I appreciate all the support I receive.

Howard Gross and Chris Ginart agree, Brian is an example of exactly who we are and what we do. While there is some social awareness in the way eBizDocs operates, the driving force is much more of a business narrative. For eBizDocs, it is all about the talent — even if the talent appears hidden. Bringing on talent and taking time to train and harness talent is how eBizDocs meet its customer’s needs. A competitive advantage for eBizDocs is embracing diversity of thought, and diversity of approach… it helps get the job done better and in turn keeps customers happy.

Thank you Brian, for all you do.
