Now accountants, financial advisors, and anyone else interested in researching government reports, technical bulletins, and accounting pronouncements, can access those documents any time, from anywhere they can take their mobile device.
With any device. According to Accounting Technology News, GARS Online subscribers can access the new tablet version through iOS on the iPad and Android-based devices. It offers users most of the functions and capabilities as the online version, including annotations, feedback utilities, advanced search functions and update capabilities.
As long as users have a valid subscription to the Governmental Accounting Standards Board’s (GASB) online version of its research system, or GARS Online, that is.
GARS Online itself was just launched in March 2013. “We expect that the new online platform will reduce the amount of time and effort needed for users to research state and local governmental accounting and financial reporting standards,” said GASB Chairman Robert H. Attmore. Before that, subscribers had to wait for biannual updates to arrive on CD-ROM.
Now that’s progress.
